The everyday problem
A summary describes information, but a team may need to know what to do next. Without an explicit action list, the reader must translate the response into a workflow. That extra interpretation can recreate the handoff problem the conversation was meant to reduce.
A practical approach
Request actions grouped by owner or dependency. Distinguish suggested actions from approved ones and include unresolved questions. Review the list before using it to update another system or assign work, particularly where context is incomplete.
Try this with your team
Turn a fictional intake summary into three categories: ready to act, needs clarification, and requires review. Assign a role to each item.
